The Earth Observatory of Singapore conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies. The Earth Observatory generates scientific breakthroughs that meet societal needs and improve the lives of those that live in the region.

EOS partnered with Science Centre Singapore to create ‘Earth Alive’, an interactive exhibition that allows its visitors to experience the processes that drive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change. It presents some impacts that these Earth processes and people have on each other and highlights stories from Southeast Asia.
EOS conducts fieldwork in and around Singapore to understand and forecast the hazards that Southeast Asia faces. Pictured here are EOS scientists measuring the elevations of corals in Sentosa, Singapore, to understand past sea levels and tectonic activity, which in turn informs future projections.
